Nigeria v Burkina Faso ratings

Nigeria:

Vincent Enyeama: The goalkeeper had a relatively quiet night but was composed when called upon and made one world-class save to keep his side in the tie. 8/10

Efe Ambrose: Was immense for Nigeria in both defence and attack. Made a number of important tackles while also drove forward with purpose. 8/10

Kenneth Omeruo: Had a very solid performance in defence, rarely put a foot wrong and more often than not played a simple ball out of defence. 7/10

Godfrey Obobona: Also very solid and composed for Nigeria, provided the bed-rock in defence. 7/10

Uwa Echiejile: Put in an all-action display that eventually cost him his night and had to be substituted with injury after 67 minutes. 6/10

Sunday Mba: Scored an incredible goal and put in an all-round excellent performance in attack. 8/10

Mikel John Obi: Had a quiet night by his recent standards but was a composed figure for the Super Eagles in the middle of the park. 6/10

Ogenyi Onazi: A superb performance from Onazi who started a number of attacks while also putting in a good defensive display. 7/10

Ideye Brown: A constant threat in attack, he combined well with Moses although his first touch let him down a few times. 6/10

Ikechukwu Uche: Was withdrawn after 53 minutes for a largely ineffective performance. 5/10

Victor Moses: Was immense all evening and ran the show for Nigeria in attack, he excelled down the wings and created a number of chances for his side.9/10

Substitutes

Joseph Yobo: Came on with a minute to play, doesn't warrant a rating

Ahmed Musa: Was excellent with his powerful runs and intelligent link-up play. 8/10

Juwon Oshaniwa: Made a decent impact when coming on and gave the Burkinabe defence something new to worry about with his strong running. 6/10

Burkina Faso

Daouda Diakite: Had a solid game, wasn't forced into too many saves and couldn't really have prevented the goal. 7/10

Mohamed Koffi: Was not as composed as he has been in previous games at this tournament and was caught out when he was chipped by Mba for the only goal. 5/10

Bakary Kone: Also struggled to impose himself in defence on a number of occasions, although he was never beaten when faced with as number of one-on-one situations. 6/10

Paul Koulibaly: Had a good game for Burkina Faso both in defence and when going forward although a number of his passes went astray. 6/10

Saidou Panandetiguiri: Another player who really didn't find his stride in this game, while he defended well, was rarely a threat in attack. 5/10

Florent Rouamba: Threw himself about and refused to shy away from a tackle - resulting in him being substituted after 65 minutes for tactical reasons after picking up a yellow card - but also to throw on someone more attacking. 5/10

Djakaridja Kone: Had a solid defensive game, rarely made any forward headway. 5/10

Charles Kabore: Previously one of the Stallions most influential players, he was kept quiet for much of the night. 5/10

Prejuce Nakoulma: A strong runner in attack but got caught offside over and over again. 4/10

Jonathan Pitroipa: Was pretty much marked out of the game, showed glimpses of his class but didn't do enough to effect the outcome of this game. 6/10

Aristide Bance: Wasted numerous chances in front of goal although was isolated for large chunks, tried his best against an organised Nigeria back-line. 5/10

Substitutes

Moumouni Dagano: Only had six minutes to impose himself, wasted a number of scoring chances. 5/10

Wilfried Sanou: Had the best chance of the match but did little else. 6/10

Abdoulrazak Traore: Had a minute of action, doesn't warrant a rating.
