Pitroipa received a second yellow card for simulation in the semi-final match against Ghana and was sent off in the 117th minute, meaning that he would miss the final.

However, CAF sent Tunisian referee Slim Jdidi home for his atrocious refereeing during that encounter and consequently annulled the suspension of Pitroipa.

"Everyone realised that this referee did not officiate well," said CAF President Issa Hayatou on Friday at a media briefing.

"They've told me the referee has sent a letter saying he got it wrong.

"From this moment, the CAF executive committee will pass on the matter to the disciplinary commission, who will announce their decision today (Friday).

"The referee admitted his error in his report given to the (CAF) secretary general (Hicham El Amrani) - he recognised that he had got it wrong."

The Stallions take on the Super Eagles in their first ever AFCON final at the National Stadium in Johannesburg. Kickoff is at 8:30pm.
