The Stallions beat Ghana 3-2 via a penalty shoot-out in the second semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The game had ended 1-1 after 120 minutes with Pitroipa sent off in the 117th minute for a second yellow card - for simulation, when a penalty seemed the obvious decision.
Tunisian referee Slim Jedidi had made a number of dubious decisions throughout the match, including the penalty call for Ghana's goal, and Kabore wants the suspension to be lifted so that Pitroipa can play in the very first AFCON final that Burkina Faso are competing in.
Their previous highest finish was in 1998 when they reached the quarter-finals.
"It's hard. The ref is human and all humans can make mistakes, he said at the post-match press conference. "But he made too many tonight, we can forgive now and then and won't dwell on that. If I had lost it or lost my temper I think all my team-mates would have followed me. It was my responsibility to keep calm.
"I hope the commission will look at video and overturn the red card because he didn't deserve that. That video must be reviewed and the decision overturned."
