Mali

Mamadou Samassa: Didn't have the best of games, conceded four goals when he really should have done better. 4/10

Mahamadou N'Diaye: Was put under the cosh by the Nigerian attack force, couldn't deal with the pace of the counter-attack. 4/10

Fousseni Diawara: Couldn't handle the pace of the Nigerian forwards, left much to be desired with his defensive duties. 4/10

Molla Wague: Same as much of the Mali defence, had trouble dealing with the Super Eagles attack. 4/10

Adama Tamboura: Got forward well, created a wonderful chance at the start, but couldn't fulfill his defensive responsibilities. 5/10

Kalilou Traore: Wasn't at his best in attack. Created opportunities, but will feel he could have done better. 4/10

Seydou Keita: Was the hardest worker on the Mali squad, but failed to inspire his squad to victory. 5/10

Mahamane Traore: Didn't do too well in the match and remained anonymous until being taken off in the second-half. 4/10

Mohamed Sissoko: Had a terrible day in the office. Gave away the free-kick and deflected that very same free-kick into his own net. 3/10

Mamadou Samassa: Was largely subdued for most of the match, got forward well but failed to have an impact. 6/10

Substitutes:

Cheick Diarra: Was bright when he was brought on and got in the box and scored. 6/10

Cheick Diabate: Got forward and into good scoring positions, worked hard and gave the assist to Diarra for the consolation goal. 6/10

Samba Sow: Strengthened the midfield, created some opportunities. Didn't have the desired impact in the end. 5/10

Nigeria

Vincent Enyeama: Was on top of his game throughout the match. Made some great last minutes saves to keep Mali out. 7/10

Efe Ambrose: Had a good game getting forward and in defence. Created some good chances. 7/10

Godfrey Oboabona: Was solid at the centre-back position, defended well when needed. 7/10

Uwa Echiejile: Had a good game overall. Defended well and opened the scoring with a wonderful diving header. 8/10

Kenneth Omeruo: Had a solid game on the right of the defence. Got forward, too, to create some chances. 6/10

Victor Moses: Had an excellent game. Ripped the Mali defence to shreds, but was unfortunate to leave the field injured. 8/10

Ideye Brown: Had a good game before his substitution, scored a good goal on the counter-attack. 7/10

Mikel John Obi: Had a solid game in the middle of the park. Excelled in linking the play between defence and attack. 7/10

Ogenyi Onazi: Had a good game in the midfield, created good chances and handled his duties in the middle of the park well. 7/10

Sunday Mbah: Had a solid performance, was a bit anonymous, but did his job well. 6/10

Emmanuel Emenike : Didn't have his usual dominating performance, went a bit unnoticed with all the pacey counter-attacks. 6/10

Substitutes:

Ahmed Musa: Had a brilliant cameo performance, had the ball in the net twice, even though one was ruled offside. 8/10

Ejike Uzoenyi: Was mostly a passenger when he came on, wasn't needed as the job had already been done. 6/10

Joseph Yobo: Didn't have too much time to have a big impact, but had a solid cameo in defence. 5/10
