Both teams are favourites to lift the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations trophy and their clash at the weekend is arguably the biggest clash of the knockout stages.
The Super Eagles struggled through Group C against Zambia and Burkina Faso who held them to 1-all draws, before finally seeing off Ethiopia in their last match to advance to the last-eight.
Cote d'Ivoire seemed to coast all the way through Group D to become the first team to progress to the quarters, beating Togo 2-1, Tunisia 3-0 and drawing 2-2 with Algeria.
Although the Desert Foxes were already eliminated from the continental championship, they gave the Ivorians a good run on Wednesday.
"It is going to be a very difficult game; we will have to remain focused," Toure said of Sunday's tussle with Nigeria.
"It is a quarter-final. The outcome will depend on small details. We will need to remain extremely focused."
"I think that our chances are good. We will rely on our qualities. We will have to remain focused.
"We will also need a bit of luck and the help of God of course."
The Manchester City centre-back also praised the Algerians for their tenacity and the test that they provided in their last group match.
Toure added: "I think that Algeria is a very good team, they have very good players but we have been more realistic.
"We conceded two goals, then we came back, I think it is a good reaction. This shows that we do not want to lose."
