------------------------------------------------------------

Ethiopia:

Sisay Bancha: Didn't do too badly until receiving two bookings and conceding a penalty in five minutes at the end. 3/10

Degu Debebe: Was kept busy by the Nigeria attack, pushed too high on the counter and left the defence exposed. 5/10

Abebaw Butaco: Was kept busy, but handled it pretty well. Was solid in defence for most of the match. 6/10

Alula Girma: Gave away the first penalty after poor defending. Otherwise fairly quiet for most of the game. 4/10

Biyadgilign Elias: Got an early booking and one suspects fear of a second yellow kept him subdued for the rest of the match, although he was treading a fine line. 4/10

Dawit Estifanos: Anonymous. Didn't do anything noteworthy. 5/10

Jussuf Saleh: Didn't have much of an impact on the match. Came as no surprise when he was subbed early in the second half. 5/10

Addis Hintsa: Performed admirably, even when asked to take up goalkeeping duties, guessed the right direction for the second penalty but could not stop it. 5/10

Oumed Oukri: Disappointing performance all round. The surprised is that he lasted until the 46th minute before being substituted. 5/10

Getaneh Kebede: Only had few chances to get forward as Nigeria pinned the Ethiopians back. 5/10

Saladine Said: Soldiered on manly with very little support. Had a few guilt-edged opportunities to get on the scoresheet, but couldn't hit the target. 6/10

Substitutes:

Fuad Ibrahim: Came on at half time, but made no noticeable difference at all. 4/10

Menyahel Teshome: Also came on at half time, and did nothing special to turn his side's fortunes around. 4/10

Birhanu Bogale: A less than memorable 20-minute cameo. Failed to inject some urgency into the Ethiopians' game.

Nigeria

Vincent Enyeama: Was good when called upon. Pulled off a string of really good saves to keep the Walya Antelopes at bay. 7/10

Efe Ambrose: The Celtic defender got forward a lot and created several good chances for the strikers. Defended well when he needed to. 7/10

Kenneth Omeruo: Was solid at the back, got forward at every opportunity, but wasted two decent goal-scoring chances. 6/10

Godfrey Oboabona: Was solid in the centre of defence, marshalled his defensive line well. 7/10

Uwa Echiejile: Got up and down the pitch well, created good chances and defended well. 6/10

Mikel John Obi: Kept the Nigerian midfield ticking over, recycled the ball and kept the passing simple. 6/10

Fengor Ogude: Was busy in the middle of the park, but was a bit reckless with his tackles. 5/10

Victor Moses: Man of the match. Created a few opportunities on the flanks and through the middle, had a few free-kick opportunities. Won and scored the two penalties. 8/10

Sunday Mba: Had a good AFCON debut, was a bit naive, shooting when there were better options available/ 6/10

Ikechukwu Uche: Had a solid game, but was unable to make a telling contribution before being substituted. 6/10

Emmanuel Emenike: Battled energetically for most of the match, ran out of steam in the latter stages before his substitution in the 75th minute. 6/10

Substitutes

Ahmed Musa: Was lively when he came on, added fresh legs to a very dangerous attack force. 6/10

Ideye Brown: Came on for Emenike, but didn't make a noticeable difference. 5/10

Joseph Yobo: Was barely on the pitch before the final whistle went.
