The Cape Town club released a statement on Tuesday confirming the laying-off of Abrahams and subsequent appointment of Mugeyi.

Abrahams was initially the goalkeeper coach with Chippa and was appointed caretaker coach in late October following Manqoba Mngqithi's sacking.

Under Abrahams' reign, the Chilli Boys drew with SuperSport United, Moroka Swallows and Orlando Pirates.

There was only one loss, to fellow PSL rookies University of Pretoria, and one victory as they beat Platinum Stars 2-1.

However, those results were not enough to lift Chippa out of the relegation zone, with the club second from the bottom with 13 points from 16 games.

"The sooner Chippa United are relegated the better. One has always thought the owner of Black Leopards was a lunatic bt Bra Chippa takes it to the extreme! He is very unrealistic and unprofessional. Go well Go Shell"
