Zambia: Have it all to do

Africa Cup of Nations surprise package Burkina Faso need only a draw against defending champions Zambia on Tuesday to secure their last-eight berth.

The Stallions head into their final group clash at the Mbombela Stadium top of Group C with four points, their 4-0 drubbing of Ethiopia on Friday doing much to improve their standing.

Chipolopolo, meanwhile, are on the verge of what would be an embarrassing early exit should they lose on Tuesday evening.

Defeat for Herve Renard's men would see them bid a not-so fond farewell to the tournament should Nigeria beat Ethiopia in the group's other encounter.

The Copper Bullets and the Super Eagles are both on two points apiece, with not even goal difference separating the two African heavyweights.

Zambia captain Kennedy Mweene, whose late penalty against Nigeria on Friday snatched a 1-1 draw for his side, is hopeful he and his troops can pull off a positive result against Burkina.

"Look, we still have hope," the goalkeeper told SuperSport. "We'll work hard in training, we can't give up. We have to fight, we are the champions after all.

"It won't be easy, but we can still qualify for the quarterfinals."

Orlando Pirates hitman Collins Mbesuma could make his return to the starting line-up for Chipolopolo after starting their last game from the bench.

Should the burly forward get the nod, he would need a repeat of the goalscoring effort he delivered against the Antelopes, and not his lacklustre showing recently, a poor miss from right out in front.
