The 23-year-old, who earned his first international cap against Equatorial Guinea last year, spent 45 minutes on the Moses Mabhida Stadium pitch against the Leopards before he was replaced by Reneilwe Letsholonyane at half-time of their second Group A clash this week.
The result left South Africa with their AFCON 2013 fate in their own hands, with Gordon Igesund's side sitting top of the group and needing only a draw in their final first-round match against Morocco on Sunday to progress to the quarter-finals.
"It was a great feeling and honour to represent the country. It was a great game for us. I think I did great but there is always room for improvement," Mahlangu told Football411.
When asked about a possible starting berth against the Atlas Lions, Mahlangu said: "It's all up to the coach and whoever he thinks should start is his decision. We respect that, he is our mentor and we have to follow."
The Helsingborgs IF man said that despite the buoyant mood in the camp after their victory over Angola, the team are trying to remain grounded.
He said: "We showed against Angola that we are capable of doing things but now we need to build on that.
"It is very important to remain focused. We are ready to do whatever it takes to get to the next level."
Mahlangu believes the clash against Rachid Taoussi's men will be a good test for Bafana. "We want to go there and focus on our own game. We need to create more scoring opportunities and enjoy the moment," he added.
"They are organised with a good defensive unit. Morocco are also a sound technical team. It's going to be a tough game for us," he concluded.
