Ethiopia, back in the competition since 1982, made an exhilarating start to the Group C match and their goalkeeper Jemal Tasew was sent off just after 30 minutes for an over-zealous challenge.

The expulsion angered the Ethiopian fans who were the majority in the Mbombela Stadium, and they threw vuvuzelas among other items on to the field.

Zambia then took the lead just before the break through Collins Mbesuma and Ethiopian fans threw vuvuzelas at the players who were celebrating. Ethiopia's captain Adane Girma led by example when he equalised.

$5000 is suspended unless this incident happens again at the tournament.

Two Democratic of Republic fans entered the Nelson Mandela Bay pitch where the DR Congo lost 1-0 to Mali.

The DR Congo and the Local Organising Committee were warned by CAF and the LOC were ordered to better their security at stadiums.
