The result leaves the Fennec Foxes at the bottom of Group D below Togo, who lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast on Tuesday.

Although the Fennec Foxes dominated the match, they just could not get the ball in the back of the net and a sublime strike by Youssef Msakni in the 91st minute gave Tunisia victory.

"This is a huge disappointment for me and my players," said Halilhodzic. "I don't believe we deserved to lose.

"I cannot blame any of the players for their performance tonight. This goal that came at the end is cruel, but this is football.

"They just had two shots and they scored. My team dominated the match and created many chances, yet we lost. "At half time, I warned my players about the threat of Youssef (Msakni) and his right foot."

"No other team played and created like we did, but it's the final touch and good luck that we missed today (Tuesday)."

Their next match is against Togo on Saturday at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
