The Eagles skipper netted an 84th minute goal to secure a 1-0 win over Mena at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The weekend's victory left the West Africans top of Group B after four-time AFCON winners Ghana played to 2-2 draw with DR Congo in the group's opening encounter
Keita, however, reckons war-torn Mali would've derived much-needed pleasure from him and his team just giving them something positive to smile about.
"The goal meant a lot to me, and so I dedicate it to my wife, family and all Malians back home," he said during a post-match press conference.
Mali next face Ghana on Thursday evening in Port Elizabeth, with a win for Patrice Carteron's men all but securing them a spot in the knockout stages.
