The Stallions are in Group C with one of the tournament favourites Nigeria, as well as defending champions Zambia and fellow underdogs Ethiopia.
In 1998 when they hosted the tournament the Burkinabes made it to the quarter-finals, still their record shows that in seven tournaments they've bowed out in the first round.
However, they are not short of optimism as Bance puts it: "We have had intense preparations and now we are ready to face Nigeria and the rest.
"It's important that we win the first game. I am not saying it will be easy but we have a competitive squad to go all the way."
Burkina Faso beat Swaziland 3-0 in a pre-tournament match on Thursday night and face Nigeria on Monday night at the Mbombela Stadium.
