Morocco is in Group A with hosts South Africa, Cape Verde and Angola while Niger is in Group D with Mali, Ghana and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Both sides rested their key players as Morocco face Angola on Saturday and Niger take on Mali this Sunday.
Clever Boys goalkeeper Ryan Harrison was not overly impressed with the Moroccan side.
"I think we were all hoping for a big test against some better opposition and to be put out of our comfort zone, but it turned out it was a very even game in the end," Harrison told MTNfootball.
"We tested them as much as they tested us. If I'm honest their squad didn't seem up to it but, in their defence, that was by no means their best eleven.
"I'm sure the players on the field took it very easy with the big competition just around the corner.
"It's fantastic to have and use the opportunity to play a national side and especially one of Morocco's standard."
The match between Dikwena and Niger took place in Port Elizabeth.
The central African side allowed several of their top players, such as skipper Moussa Maazou, Issoufou Alhassane and Mohamed Chikoto to sit the game out in order to get some rest.
