Drogba led the Ivoirians to the 2006 final in Egypt where they lost to the hosts 4-2 via a penalty shootout, and just last year they succumbed to another tense penalty shoot-out which Zambia won 8-7.
"We have a team capable of great things at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations," Drogba told the FIFA website.
"It would be great to win the trophy now. Honestly, we are getting tired of losing out each time," said Drogba who missed a penalty during regulation time in the 2012 final.
"We showed great solidarity against Senegal (in the qualifiers). We fought together, everybody gave of himself and this helped us to win.
"And now everybody expects a trophy. We hope to give the cup to our country," he said of the nation that last saw AFCON success in 1992," he concluded.
The Elephants play all their Group D matches in Rustenburg where they will take on Togo, 2004 winners Tunisia and 1990 champions Algeria.
