Ethiopia to emulate Zambia

Ethiopia won the trophy in 1962 but have not competed at the continental showpiece for three decades.

The Antelopes find themselves in Group C with the defending champions, as well as Burkina Faso and frequent AFCON favourites Nigeria, and team captain Degu Debebe believes if they follow Zambia's example, then anything can happen.

"We saw how Zambia performed at the last AFCON. No one expected them to win the cup," Debebe told SuperSport.

"They won because they played as a team and didn't underestimate any team," he said of Chipolopolo, who beat firm favourites Ivory Coast in the final to claim their first ever continental trophy.

"We can learn a lesson from them and make possible what seems impossible. We will give our best," he added.

Their first two matches take place at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit while the final group clash with the Super Eagles will be played at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
