Tickets sales for matches in Durban are worryingly low, while Nonkonyana also revealed more tickets have been sold for the clash between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali than the match between Bafana Bafana and Morocco.
"We must be honest we are not happy with the ticket situation," Nonkonyana told Football411.
"Only 25 percent of tickets have been sold at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. We need to double our efforts. This coming weekend must be the time for people to go out there and buy tickets. We don't want a rush or stampede at the last minute."
According to Nonkonyana, the LOC has received positive responses for ticket sales for matches involving other African countries.
"Our African brothers and sisters are buying their tickets and it will be a pity if South Africans have to miss out on a tournament that is being staged on home soil," he said.
"The fans are crucial to propelling Bafana to the next round. We can only succeed if we have the support of the nation."
With just a few days to go before Bafana Bafana kick-off the tournament against AFCON debutants Cape Verde at the National Stadium, Nonkonyana says from an organising perspective, it's all systems go.
"The LOC went to all host cities to do a final check last week and everything is hundred percent ready," Nonkonyan concluded.
