Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Zane Moosa believes Thulani Serero should be used in the middle of the park where his attacking genius will be most effective.

Serero won the PSL Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards for his dazzling displays for Ajax Cape Town in the 2010/11 season, leading to his services being snapped up by European giants Ajax Amsterdam.
Injuries have sidelined Serero's progress in Holland and as a result he has been used largely as a substitute on the wings for the South Africa national team.
Nevertheless, he showed his potential against Norway and Algeria recently and Moosa, who was part of the triumphant 1996 AFCON squad, wants the playmaker to start in the centre when Bafana kick off the 2013 instalment against the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday.
"Serero has that element of surprise. He can dribble, he is quick and he can make good passes, I believe he should start in the middle, just behind the strikers to give them quality supply," the former Mamelodi Sundowns playmaker told Football411.
"Playing him on the wings is a waste. Yes, he can do it but in the middle is where I would put him. He has the intelligence to do it."
Bafana coach Gordon Igesund usually employs two anchormen in midfield and relies on the wingers and full-backs to get ahead, but Moosa believes the team should be more attack-minded.
"Being cautious is not always a good thing, we are the host nation, they are playing in our backyard and we have to take the game to them," he added.
"For that reason I would start Serero and (Dean) Furman in the middle. Furman is very good at protecting the back four and has the ability to make those raking passes too, and I think he would suit Serero better in central midfield," said Moosa, who also had a stint with Kaizer Chiefs.
Moosa would also like to see Orlando Pirates forward Tokelo Rantie starting up front, alongside Sundowns striker Katlego Mphela.
"That boy (Rantie) will find the net but needs to play more. He is aggressive, strong and keeps the defenders on their toes, he does not quit. I'd really like to see him start a game."
Moosa's starting XI against Cape Verde Islands would be: Khune, Ngcongca, Khumalo, Sangweni, Matlaba, Phala , Furman, Serero, Tshabalala, Mphela, Rantie.
