Player To Watch: Manucho

With eight goals at the AFCON finals and 21 in 38 appearances for his country, Manucho is a key player for Angola. The striker made his AFCON debut in the 2008 instalment and was named in the team of the tournament, so his record is not to be sneered at. He will again be expected to challenge for the Golden Boot in South Africa after finishing as joint-top goal scorer at last year's tournament. He comes into AFCON in relatively good form having scored six goals for Real Valladolid, including a brace against Real Madrid.

Rising Star: Djalma Campos

In a team made up of mostly locally-based players, Djalma Campos is one of the few players who ply their trade in Europe. The 25-year-old is on loan at Turkish side Kasimpasa SK from FC Porto. Djalma was in the Angola squads for the 2008 and 2010 AFCON tournaments. It is in South Africa where he is expected to make his mark and distinguish himself as a key player for his country. His biggest attribute is versatility, a quality that gives coach Gustavo Ferrin several options in midfield.

Sorely Missed: Flavio Amado

Flavio Amado is one of the best players to come out of Angola. The 33-year-old has seven AFCON goals and 33 in all from 81 appearances for his country. But there was no place for the veteran striker in Ferrin's squad, with the coach clearly opting for youth. There is no doubt that a player of Flavio's proven experience and goal-scoring prowess will be sorely missed.
