The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Local Organising Committee is under scrutiny for the lack of a sustained build-up ahead of the continental showpiece that starts next Saturday in Johannesburg.

Unlike the World Cup where preparations were highly visible months before the tournament kicked off, there has only been a minimal amount of advertising to promote the event.
LOC spokesman Sipho Sithole, however, feels it is unfair to compare the two competitions due to time constraints.
South Africa were only handed the reins of the tournament when they replaced Libya as hosts due to the instability in the North African country.
"I think it's unfair. You are expecting South Africa to have done the same that it did for 2010," Sithole told AFP
"If this was the 2017 (Cup of Nations) - the tournament we were supposed to host - and we had four years, it would have been fair."
Another head honcho at the LOC says a lack of resources is to blame for the lack of excitement ahead of the opening match that sees Bafana take on Cape Verde.
"It was driven by sponsors," said LOC chief executive Mvuzo Mbebe.
"Have you seen any other ads except for the adverts of the LOC? With our limited resources, we can only do a certain amount."
