The huge costs of transport, accommodation and training for the African spectacular is set to take its toll on the minnow footballing nation, although the country's FA have now stepped in to help with financing their campaign.
The FA have refused to divulge any figures, but admitted the team were unable to budget solely on government funds.
"We are getting some assistance from the government, but we are really counting on the support of all Cape Verdeans," president of the Cape Verde FA Mario Semedo told MTNFootball.
Semedo went on to talk up the country's chances at the South Africa showpiece, where they will face hosts Bafana Bafana, Angola and Morocco in Group A.
"These are teams we know well," Semedo added.
"A team that can knock out Cameroon at the qualifying stage, can face every other opponent in Africa with a certain measure of self-confidence."
