Ghana start their training camp this Saturday in Abu Dhabi ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah feared the defender would not make it in time after apparently being injured against Amidaus Professionals last Sunday.

However, Boateng insists his injury is not at all serious and claims he is fit and ready to join the training camp.

He told JOY Sports:" Although I had a knock in that game nothing shows that I'm not fit and no doctor has confirmed that the knock will rule me out of the Nations Cup.

"I really don't know why they are saying I can't join the team for the training camp in Abu Dhabi, nothing shows that I'm injured because I can see myself fully fit and even preparing towards the Nations Cup."

The Black Cats will play two friendlies during their time in Abu Dhabi, against Egypt and Tunisia, before they depart for the South African showpiece which kicks off on January 19.
