The Ghanaian FA set an initial budget of $8 million to cover the cost of the warm-up games, training camp and the tournament, but that budget has since been cut by the Sports Ministry.
The budget cuts came after controversy over win bonuses of up to $25,000 should the Black Stars win the tournament, laundry services of $15,000 and $70,000 for media. The touted $1.06 million for the squad's training camp in Abu Dhabi also caused a stir amongst the Sports Ministry officials.
A new budget was submitted and approved by the president, but the Finance Ministry has yet to respond, the delay is reported to be due to Ghana president John Mahama's intentions to dissolve the current cabinet in the next couple of days.
The Black Stars are due to travel to the United Arab Emirates on Friday for pre-AFCON warm-up games gainst Egypt and Tunisia, before travelling to South Africa for the final tournament.
