AVB: I won't block Adebayor

The forward did announce the suspension of his international career with his country over a friendly bonus dispute last month, and has thus far decided not to take part in the African showcase tournament starting on January 19.

Villas-Boas, however, is preparing for the worst if the 28-year-old changes his mind and travels to South Africa later this month.

If this is the case, the Portuguese boss could stand to lose Adebayor for up to five matches.

"I haven't confirmed it because it's a vulnerable situation and anything can happen," Villas-Boas told SkySports.

"The player can still go, but we just need to be aware of it. It's always his choice because I'm not going to put myself in a position where I block a player from international duty.

"If he wants to go, we fully respect it. I'm not involved in any form and the club have nothing to do with the situation. With some luck, even if the player goes, maybe he's still involved in the QPR game."
