The 24-year-old, who plays his club football for Turkish Super Lig side Eskisehirspor, was named in the Black Stars' preliminary squad for the continental showpiece in South Africa next month.

However, his participation at the tournament was brought into doubt after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Koforidua.

Akaminko was behind the wheel when his car collided with a taxi bus before leaving the road and heading off into the woods.

The former Heart of Lions captain, though, has moved to allay fears by declaring himself free of any injury ahead of Ghana's training camp in the United Arab Emirates on January 4.

"I am okay and I had no injuries at all. Thank God I survived the accident," he said on Twitter.

"I am with my family and I thank God for the life of my family and myself. It was a minor incident and I am in good psychological condition.

"Lastly thank you to my fans and friends for showing care. Everything happens for a reason and I thank God that I am okay."
