The Ghana-born defender, who plies his trade with Tunisia outfit Zarzis, recently switched allegiances to Menas after failing to break into the Black Stars set-up.

The two countries have since been paired together in Group B of next year's African showpiece, and while the 23-year-old admits he will always respect his homeland, he insists he has a job to do with Niger and will be checking his emotions at the door.

"It's not all that comfortable, but I think I have to respect my motherland," he said in an interview with Ghanaian radio station Joy FM.

He added: "I have to respect my work. I can't say because I live in Ghana and I'm a Ghanaian. Today, I've naturalised for Niger. It's difficult for me, but it's my work too."
