Five senior SAFA officials have reportedly already been suspended, including president Kirsten Nematandani, with SAFA COO, interim CEO Dennis Mumble, head of referees Adeel Carelse, head of national teams Lindile Kika, and former head of national teams Barney Kujane, all taking a voluntary leave of absence after their names were mentioned in the FIFA report.
And Hawks spokesman Paul Ramaloko expects more heads to roll.
He told the Sowetan: "There are individuals of interest who are abroad, who we are interested in going to, [in order] to get to the bottom of this case."
The investigation centres around the fixing of four Bafana warm-up games prior to the 2010 World Cup with Wilson Raj Perumal, the head of an Asian-based betting syndicate, having already been convicted for his part in the events, that included providing corrupt referees for the matches.
Allegations against SAFA include the payment of R8-million to senior SAFA officials.
"During several meetings between this match fixer and SAFA officials a sum of R8-million was offered to the officials," Ramaloko added.
"The match fixer is alleged to have offered to supply certain referees to oversee the matches to ensure that Bafana Bafana won.
"The investigation is at an early stage, but 'individuals of interest' have already been weeded out."
