The Buccaneers opened the scoring after 25 minutes as Daine Klate curled home his 20-yard free-kick, while Happy Jele wrapped up the points nine minutes after the restart with a header at the far-post..

Midway though the first-half the hosts had a great chance to open the scoring as a mistake at the back allowed Musa Bilankulu the chance to get the ball into the area, but Bonginkosi Ntuli, rushing in at the near-post, could only side foot his shot miles over from just a few yards out.

Right up at the other end though the Sea Robbers stormed into the lead, a free-kick being delayed as the referee decided to book Andile Jali for time wasting, but Klate would not be put off as he took a one-step run-up before curling his shot past the stranded Pavels Steinbors.

A few minutes later and Jali came close to scoring a spectacular scissor-kick goal, but his flamboyant effort flew just wide of the up-right.

Soon after the restart Pirates doubled their lead, Siyabonga Sangweni delivering a peach of a cross to the far-post where Jele was able to head home with the help of some questionable goalkeeping from Steinbors.

The result took Pirates to within one point of the Premiership summit, with the league set to go on a two-month break for the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Arrows, meanwhile, end the year in 13th with 16 points, three above the relegation zone.
