Ferrin: Work to be done

Angola's preparations for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations took a knock as they could only muster a 1-1 draw against 10-man Gambia in a friendly at the weekend.

Palancas Negras had played almost the entire match with a one-man and one-goal advantage following Foday Saidy's sending-off for a foul in the box after just 10 minutes, with Amaro slotting home the resulting penalty.

However, Gustavo Ferrin's side were unable to put the game to bed, and were ultimately made to pay for their wastefulness as Saloum Faal levelled things up midway through the second period.

The Scorpions were able to stand strong for the rest of the game to earn the draw, although the result will come as a bit of a concern to Angola, who will contest Africa's biggest tournament next month.

The south-west Africans will next face Cameroon in Lubango on Wednesday before squaring off against Rwanda in Luanda three days later.

Angola have been drawn in Group A for next year's finals, alongside host nation South Africa, as well as Morocco and Cape Verde.
