Cape Verde will have to make their debut bow at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations without Ricardo Ferreira after the defender decided to put his club commitments ahead of his national ties.

The Portuguese-born 32-year-old helped the Blue Sharks qualify for the tournament before revealing his decision to newspaper A'Bola.
Cape Verde, who have been drawn in Group A alongside South Africa, Angola and Morocco, have been scheduled to play the opening match against the hosts at the FNB Stadium.
The Pacos de Ferreira player informed national-team coach Lucio Antunes of his decision ahead of the squad announcement on Tuesday.
Veteran captain Lito and striker Dady have, meanwhile both been left out of the squad.
