Thabo Mongalo opened the scoring for the home side in 54th minute at the Peter Mokaba stadium, but Coldrinn Coetzee levelled the score 15 minutes later.

The game looked set for a draw but Thepelo Mkhatshwa netted the winning goal in the final minute of the match.

After a fairly uneventful opening exchange, the visitors got the first chance of after good build-up led to a long-range shot from Dove Wome, but it was easily dealt with by Leopards' keeper Ayanda Mtshali.

With 10 minutes remaining in the first half Wome tested Mtshali again with a well-struck free-kick, but the ball bounced wide of goal after beating the Lidido Duvha stopper.

Ea Lla Koto kept piling on the pressure for the remainder of the half, and came close to finding the opener, but Angelo Kerspuy's effort was wide of the mark.

The second half started in a similar manner as the first, with neither side imposing themselves on the match.

It was Leopards who finally got the opener in the 57th minute when Thabo Mongalo curled the ball into the net from the edge of the area, leaving Stars goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene high and dry.

It took 16 minutes for Free State to find the equaliser, when Esterhuizen's long-range effort took a heavy deflection and looped over Mtshali and into the back of the net.

Then, with just one minute remaining Mkhatshwa bagged the winner, slotting home past Mtshali from a good ball in from Nomandela.

The win leaves Free State in sixth with 21 points, while Leopards are five points behind in 10th.
