Lidoda Duvha face Free State Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday ahead of a clash with Bloemfontein Celtic at Free State Stadium the following Wednesday in their last two matches before the two-month break.
In 10th place with 16 points, just a point adrift of eighth-placed SuperSport United, it is not an impossible task and gives his players something to work towards following their narrow 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend.
Palmer has, however, admitted he will need to sign a new striker to help ease his team's apparent goalscoring problems. Leopards have scored just five goals in their last six games and 17 all season.
He told the PSL: "If we just iron out our problems in terms of finishing and we can get a new striker in we should be achieve the objective (of securing a top-eight place).
"We are looking to bring in a striker and reinforce that department. There is no use being able to create chances if you can't finish them. That's one of the positions we are looking at."
He added: "Free State Stars are never easy and our home record is not good and we are playing them at home and then we meet Celtic, who are in good form too.
"We are playing them away and we all know how hard it is to go away to face them. So yes, we have a challenge ahead of us.
"There are certainly problems we have to still iron out, in terms of creating and finishing chances and defending better. There is quite a bit of work ahead of us."
