Pirates' arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs made off with R1.5million after winning Quarter One, which had eight matches, and now there are three teams in the race to win Quarter Two with one round of games to play.

Platinum Stars, the leaders with one point in the second quarter, are followed closely by the Buccaneers, who are one point adrift and Chiefs a further two behind.

Jali told Football411 that Q-Innovation is making a difference, saying: "This thing of dividing the season in quarters has made other teams more hungry and those teams are giving us problems.

"I think this is good for South African football, because you want every team to fully compete in the league... It makes it exciting."

Bucs, the treble champions for the past two seasons, are finding the going tough this campaign.

They have already missed out on the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout, but Jali insisted the team will win silverware this season.

"The way I see it is that we are a hungry team and with the league and Nedbank Cup still to play for, I think we can win at least one of those two so I'm confident," he said.

"We want to win the league and my promise to our fans is that we will give it our best shot."

Pirates' next league fixture is against Maritzburg United on Friday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
