SuperSport United midfielder Mogogi Gabonamong is set to leave the Tshwane giants, according to the club's director of football Stanley Matthews.

Gabonamong, who is the Botswana national team captain, has not seen enough game time at the Pretoria-based club and Matthews was clear about the player's future.

"Yes, chances are that we will let him go, in any case he's only left with six months (on his contract) and would soon be allowed to sign a pre-contract anywhere there's interest," Matthews told Football411.

Gabonamong, a tough tackler who is also able to play in defence, was brought in two seasons ago by Matsatsantsa coach Gavin Hunt, after the 30-year-old led Santos for four seasons as one of their top performers.

The player has, however, refused to be drawn into revealing too much about his future, with speculation rife that he could be headed back to Botswana where he has business interests.

"It is true that I have business back home, but my agent is talking to a few clubs around and abroad so I should be able to say something in January," Gabonamong added.

Gino, as is affectionately known, was relegated to the stands when SuperSport enlisted the services of Ghanaian Edwin Gyimah, who has since established himself as a starter in midfield, alongside George Maluleka.

Gabonamong is an experienced campaigner who led his country to the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon earlier this year, where Botswana was knocked out in the group stages of the competition.

Botswana was the first country to qualify for the tournament after a surprise string of wins.

Gabonamong, capped 68 times by the Zebras, is strongly tipped to join Moroka Swallows to replace the ageing Macbeth Sibaya in the middle of the pitch.

However, that would also depend on who the Dube Birds brings in as coach, should Zeca Marques vacate the hot seat at Dobsonville.

Mogogi has played his football for Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Botswana's biggest clubs. Prior to his Santos debut, he spent a month training with Orlando Pirates under Kostadin Papic.
