Eleazar Rodgers gave the Brazilians a 25th minute lead - his first Premier Soccer League goal of the season - with a Tebogo Langerman's own goal on 73 minutes ensuring Stars claimed a share of the spoils.

Komphela bemoaned his side's profligacy in front of goal before insisting his side would enter the Christmas break in the top eight.

They currently occupy sixth spot and have three tricky ties laying in wait before the club's pack up over the festive period - in preparation for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Bafana caretaker manager told his club's official website: "I thought we could have won this match in the first half really. We got a chance early in the game where we should have finished and capitalised and the outcome of the entire game was going to be different.

"The opponent on the day was afterall Sundowns who are also not a walk in the park. They came out strong in the first stanza but I think lacked the same momentum come the second half of the game. The boys realised that and they put the pedal to the metal so to say and we got a goal back.

"I am happy with the point considering that there a few games if not one before the Christmas break. We have a chance of finishing good and clinching a top 8 spot before the break. Once again I would like to mention that the boys are very much up to the task and I am happy with their performance."
