Musa Bilankulu opened the scoring for Abafana Bes'thende midway through the first-half, while Mxolisi Machupu wrapped up the three vital points in injury time to end the side's four-match winless streak.

The result took Arrows to 12th in the PSL standings with 13 points, three above the relegation zone, while the Dube Birds drop to 11th with just 14 points from their opening 13 matches.

The home side started brightly but were wasteful with their early chances, although the fans didn't have to wait long to celebrate a goal as Bilankulu found the back of the net after rising well to meet Sibusiso Hadebe's corner after 25 minutes.

Lerato Chabangu almost found an equaliser before the break but saw his close-range shot well saved by Pavels Steinbors, but the visitors' day was made infinitely more difficult as Sibusiso Khumalo received his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Chabangu looked Swallows' only real chance to get something out of the match but he flashed his 30-yard free-kick just over the crossbar, while Norman Smith wasted a golden chance for Arrows as he fired wide of the goal from only a few feet out.

With just moments remaining though the hosts wrapped up the points, Smith atoning for his earlier missed by playing in Macuphu, who slid the ball under Mathibe to send the home supporters into raptures.
