This, as the Soweto giants recently named their squad for the inaugural NBM Sevens Premier League rugby tournament in George next week.

Chiefs have included three former Springbok wings, Breyton Paulse, Jongi Nokwe and Frederich Lombard, in their side, along with several young up-and-comers like Wandile Mjekevu.

Injured South Africa and Sharks hooker Bismarck du Plessis has also been announced as the tournament ambassador and would be technical advisor to the Chiefs team.

The Glamour Boys oval-balled outfit will be coached by former SA centre Gcobani Bobo, who is decidedly pleased with the players he has at his disposal.

"You have the proven qualities of those Springbok players, the exciting potential of the young guns like Wandile and Elmo, and the hard core experience of guys like Wilhelm and Junior," Bobo said.

As for Du Plessis, he is as excited to get involved with one of the country's most popular football teams.

"Growing up on the farm, I was playing soccer, mostly because the people on the farm staying with me couldn't catch a rugby ball," he claimed.

"I always dreamed about kicking like Doctor Khumalo or defending like (Lucas) Rhoo Radebe."
