The Chilli Boys, who occupy 14th place with 10 points from 12 games, enjoyed a brief resurgence under new coach Farouk Abrahams as they drew 1-1 with Moroka Swallows before seeing off Platinum Stars 2-1 for just their second win of the season.

They failed to overcome Ajax Cape Town in their last clash, but excitement is high ahead of Bucs' visit.

Pirates though, under former Wits boss Roger de Sa, come into this tie on a four-match winning streak and a win for them in the Mother City, coupled with a loss for PSL leaders Kaizer Chiefs, at home to Ajax, will see the current league champions overtake their Soweto rivals and claim first place in the standings.

Despite seeing off the Clever Boys in his last outing, De Sa wasn't entirely impressed with his side's overall performance, while Abrahams felt his team was unlucky not to have at least stolen a point from the Urban Warriors.

De Sa must, meanwhile, make do without the suspended Sifiso Myeni and Siyabonga Sangweni, while Abrahams is without Gift Sithole who is also facing a spell on the sidelined with a ban.
