Katsande left the Mother City for Johannesburg in 2011, where the midfielder has since become a regular for the Glamour Boys.
He will now take on his former club when the Urban Warriors travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Katsande has already played down the sentimentality ahead of the midweek encounter, and Rusike has urged his fellow team-mates to do the same.
"Obviously he's got some inside information on us. He will be out to prove a point to Ajax," he told Football411.
"He is a great player and he's doing well for himself and his club. But I hope that having won our last game, that will serve as a moral boost for us.
"They (Chiefs) lost their previous game and so they will go all out to redeem themselves."
Rusike has seen a limited amount of first-team action for Ajax this season and doesn't expect to start in Polokwane.
However, the 23-year-old is reluctantly satisfied to bide his time on the outskirts as the Cape strugglers look to find some consistency.
He added: "I'm not happy with my contribution, not happy with how I've started my season.
"After the Belgium trial I had an injury, but I'm back now competing for a place in the starting eleven.
"We won our last game and the guys played well so I'm not sure if I'm going to start"
As for the situation with his country's national team having been disbanded following the recent match-fixing saga, Rusike has admitted it has been a tough pill to swallow.
"I'm trying not to think about it. I haven't decided on what I'm going to do. But we will see as time goes by," he concluded.
