The Brazilians lost their second cup final within seven months as they went down 1-0 to Phunya Sele Sele in Durban on Saturday night.

Sundowns spokesman Thulani Thuswa on Sunday confirmed the news.

"I can confirm that coach Neskeens and the club have reached an amicable agreement to part ways," Thuswa said.

"The club president, Patrice Motsepe, praised him for standing by the club even when times where tough."

The big-spending Pretoria outfit have been dismal in the league this season, winning just two of 12 games, sitting in second last position on the Premiership table.

It seemed as if club owner Patrice Motsepe was resisting the temptation to fire the Dutchman, having gone through over 12 coaches since taking charge of Downs in 2004.

But the mining magnate's patience came to an end after seeing his side losing out to Celtic.

The speculation is that former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane will take charge of the Tshwane side.
