The PSL Dispute Resolution Chambers (DRC) have hammered the pockets of NFD club Polokwane City by ruling against the club in favour of former player Moemedi Moatlhaping.

The PSL issued the following statement:
DRC ruling: Moatlhaping and Polokwane City FC matter
The Dispute Resolution Chambers (DRC) has made its ruling in the case involving PolokwaneCity FC and Moemedi Jomo Moatlhaping.
Moatlhaping took Polokwane City FC to the DRC seeking his clearance certificate, payment of arrear salaries and any damages consequent to an alleged breach of contract by the club.
He alleged that Polokwane City reneged on a contract for the period 1 November 2011 to 30 June 2013. Moatlhaping testified that Polokwane City FC only paid him a portion of hisagreed salary.
The clearance certificate was given by Polokwane City but made subject to the condition that Moatlhaping waives all his rights to any claim that he may have against the club.
The DRC ruled that this was contrary to the football regulations which provide that a clearance certificate must be given unconditionally. Consequently, the player was declared a free agent by the DRC.
The DRC ordered that:
- The club is to pay the player his arrears salary of R52,000.00 subject to statutory tax deductions
- The club is to pay the player damages in the amount of R85,000.00
- The amounts stated above must be paid by the club to the player within 30 days of the award, failing which the Chief Executive Officer of the PSL is ordered to deduct the amount awarded from any moneys payable by the PSL to the club.
