The two teams contested a dress rehearsal for the Ziwa Mo showpiece at the weekend after clashing in the PSL, with the Brazilians emerging 1-0 victors on Sunday.

The result lifted Sundowns off the foot of the Premiership table, and Neeskens is hoping that win can inspire them to revive their previously ailing season.

"It's difficult for every team to get maximum points at this stage of the league," he said.

"It's even more difficult for us because of our position in the league and because of a few injuries. Hopefully we will perform well in the final and win the trophy."

The Chloorkop coach had used this past weekend's league encounter to test some of his fringe players, and he was pleased with their performance against Siwelele.

"On our side, we saw this as a great opportunity for other players to showcase what they can offer and the boys did a good job," Neeskens added.

"We did not want to take any risks with injured players. Both teams were affected as we have played six games before the final."
