Palmer: Second win in charge

Black Leopards' plan to hit University of Pretoria on the counter-attack worked as they recorded a 2-1 win in the PSL on Saturday.

The winning goal came from the spot as Rodney Ramagalela fired home an injury-time penalty at the Absa Stadium.

But Palmer is adamant it was the overall implementation of his game-plan, both in defence and attack that secured a second win since taking charge of the Limpopo outfit.

"It was about containing the crosses coming in, they like to go wide and get in crosses, so that was important for us," he said.

"But going wide leaves holes at the back, so we were looking to get them on the break and it seemed to work for us.

"Its not easy, Tukkies is a very good team, I must complement them, to play against them is always difficult.

His Tuks counterpart Steve Barker has now seen his team lose two and draw six of their home games this season.

He feels it was a game that should have been won, saying: "We fought well second half to get back into the game to get the equaliser, at that point we were looking the stronger team.

"But unfortunately a little bit of silly defending, not clearing our lines at crucial moments allowed them to get the winner, so very disappointed."
