Thika released the quartet at the end of the recently concluded 2012 season, which saw them finish fifth in the standings and Kamau named runner-up in Coach of the Year category.

The four axed players are Andrew Kulecho, Haji Mwachoki, John Njenga Mbugua, and Evans Oluteyo.

Kamau had no ill words to say about the players and wished them well in their careers, adding that he had enjoyed working with them.

"Oluteyo and Mwachoki had contracts running up to the end of this year and we will not be renewing them. Njenga and Kulecho have also been released to move on with their care," Kamau told SuperSport.

"It should be noted that all these players are very good and their release was informed by a need for change in the team, which we believe comes with the entry of new players.

"In this regard, their exit will ultimately create room for more players to have their talent tested."
