The holders successfully defended their crown in a replay of last year's final, securing a 3-0 penalty shoot-out victory after 120 minutes had finished goalless.
Mapunda took home the match-ball after producing a sublime performance, which included two penalty saves at the end, although the shot stopper was quick to applaud their fans, family and friends for their support.
"I dedicate (the win) to the fans, our families and all those who have been on our side throughout the season," said Mapunda.
Lifting the cup came as a big boost to the side after they had missed out on the league title by a single point, a fact that was not lost on Mapunda.
He added: "This year has been long and tough and so to win this trophy is a good way to end the season. We have had many ups and downs and I have to congratulate the players who have given a good effort even though things have been difficult."
On his own penalty heroics, he said: "Penalties are never easy to deal with. You never know what can come up. Yesterday, I chose the right way and saved them. It is an instinct to move this way or the other and it worked for me.
"On other days you are beaten. But I guess it is a mix of concentration and knowing who will take the kick and how they play and which foot they like using. It is not something you can say you know how to do. On the day, I came out top, maybe on some other day, I will not."
