Ivory Coast and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is Africa's highest-paid athlete, according to Forbes magazine's latest world rankings.

The 29-year-old pocketed a reported $19.1million, but is only 73rd on the list of the world's highest-earning athletes, tied with American basketball player Tim Duncan.

Toure is joined on the list by South African golfer Ernie Els, who sits 93rd, with the pair the only two Africans represented.

Meanwhile, American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the world's highest-paid athlete with $85m per annum, while fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao is second with $62m.

Back to football and next on the list is Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder and former Manchester United superstar David Beckham, who comes in at eighth with $46m, while Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo is one spot lower down with $42.5m.
