Eleazar Rodgers got the only goal of the game and took some of the pressure off manager Johan Neeskens.

The Brazilians took a deserved lead in the 15th minute, having dominated the early exchanges. Anthony Laffor crossed for Rodgers, who swivelled on the ball before clinically finishing.

Hlompho Kekana almost scored an own goal but Ronwen Williams was alert enough to to tip his back-pass around the post. And then, just before the break, at the opposite end of the field, Kekana almost atoned for his error when he thundered the ball against the cross-bar from 30 yards out,

Gavin Hunt then rang the changes just after the interval, bringing on Franklin Cale and Nathan Paulse in place of Moffat Mdluli and Mor Diouf.

Wayne Sandilands then produced a spectacular save from Paulse's 57th minute effort.

Matsatsantsa piled on the pressure and had what Gavin Hunt insisted was a legitimate penalty appeal waved away and ultimately could not find the back of the net.

Sundowns will face the winner of Sunday's all-Free-State semi-final between Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars in the Ziwa Mo final.
