The Pietermaritzburg-born player has enjoyed regular game time out on the left wing for Maritzburg United this season.
He has shown a great touch on the ball and a cool head under pressure, putting in some accomplished and polished performances which have belied his inexperience in the top flight.
Just over a year ago Zulu was playing in the Vodacom Second Division with Maritzburg City, and now the 24-year-old is relishing the opportunity to come up against the country's biggest stars on a weekly basis.
"We played a friendly game against Maritzburg United and I was invited to join the team," Zulu told the club's official website.
"I joined in October last year and I signed in March this year," he continued. "It's always been my dream to play in the PSL. I was always a Chiefs fan, Reneilwe Letsholonyane being my favourite player. So playing against them has been a highlight.
"So too was scoring my first goal against Chippa United down in Cape Town. And making my debut."
It's been a good time to join the Team of Choice, with the club flying high after a great start to the season, making it easier for Zulu to slot into the side.
"Its gone well so far. The coach tells me what to do and I follow his instructions and its has not been difficult to get used to playing in the PSL.
"We have a smaller squad this season, and the players are really close together. We help each other and are there for each other, there is a great team spirit."
Zulu, who plans to continue studying in the field of mechanical engineering when he has the chance, also says that playing for his local team has helped him make the transition to the professional ranks.
"I'm from Pietermaritzburg and its great for my friends and family to see me making the grade in the PSL with Maritzburg.
"It helped in that my life has stayed the same, apart from now being a professional player. I am still the same person and have the same environment around me."
