Lamouchi to work on 'defects'

Lamouchi: Formulating plan

Ivory Coast coach Sabri Lamouchi says he saw plenty of areas that need working on before they head to the Africa Cup of Nations, despite the side's 3-0 victory over Austria on Wednesday.

The Elephants, pre-AFCON favourites yet again, looked in fine form as Ya Konan Didier, Didier Drogba and Lacina Traore all fired past Das Team in a friendly international.

However, Lamouchi, who is in his first national coaching job, says there are still some 'defects' he is looking to iron out before Cote d'Ivoire travel to South Africa in January.

"It would sound funny if we say we are not happy with today's result, but that is not the main thing we are after. We want to see a team improving in all three departments - attack, midfield and defence - and then sharpen up considerably before the forthcoming challenge," he told SuperSport.

"Now, we have observed that our defence is where we need to urgently work on so that we don't carry the defects to the competition, where you can lose a game by one careless act in your back half.

"I believe we have the players and the means we need to embark on a satisfactory preparation for the South Africa 2013, and we will be focusing most on the defence, but that doesn't mean other areas are perfect, but our greatest fear now as a team is what we have seen once again in the defence," he added.
