Vilakazi was a peripheral figure for the Urban Warriors under Maarten Stekelenburg earlier this season.

But the 25-year-old has earned a run-out in three of Pruijn's four matches at the helm, and is relishing the opportunity.

"Watching the guys receive a 5-1 trashing by Tuks (University of Pretoria) and those games prior to that wasn't a happy feeling for me, actually I was disappointed in myself for failing to make the team, I wished I was there," he told MTNFootball.

"But at professional level, one has to be always ready and when the chance comes you have to grab it with both hands.

"And that is exactly what I did when coach Jan (Pruijn) gave me that chance."

Vilakazi is quick to quash suggestions that he was glad to see the back of Stekelenburg.

But he admits that he is enjoying the favour shown to him by the Dutchman's successor.

He added: "Not that he was a bad coach or anything, he was a great coach and it's nothing personal, but if you look at the situation, it did help my part because I am playing again."
